20th of November

We're down at electrik (Manchester's bar of the year 2011) a week on Sunday for another One Deck Session playing whatever the hell we like! To quote the electrik lot it's "One Deck, A Comfy Chair, No Mixing, One DJ and a soundtrack of whatever they want to play". That sounds like our type of night... I suppose that's why we keep on getting invited back!

1st of December

On a different tip (off ground) we'll be back at the Gaslamp doing Kraut und Owt part 4. Part 3 was very good indeed but we're not resting on our laurels so expect Part 4 to be even better! Krautrock, synth wave, electronic music, oddities, library soundtracks and owt played by DJs Andy Memery, St. Neon & Bethan Kryzkowski. The electrik crew might describe it as - two decks, one laptop, a projector, Uncomfy DJ chairs, plenty of mixing, several DJs and a soundtrack of Kraut und Owt!

KuO # 3:

Early Warning - Kraut und Owt Part 3 will be taking place on the 3rd of November 2011 at The Gaslamp. It'll be more of the same i.e. Krautrock, Minimal Wave, Electronic Music, Oddities and owt... and the outside chance of free hotdogs - German style! More information soon!!!
Non Kraut und Owt:
Highlight of Electric Elephant 2011 was undoubtedly James Pants on the main stage where he played everything from the Chordettes "Mr Sandman" to the original version of Love Buzz by Shocking Blue. It wasn't just a DJ set it was moon walking, drum machining, cymbal smashing musical evangelisim of the highest order!!! Of course the visuals behind him were brilliant too... provided by us! He recently did a set at The Boiler Room which was a restrained version of what he did in Croatia but still unmissable - watch it below:

Two record decks, a mixer, a laptop, an external soundcard, a slide projector and one mpd... that'll be Kraut und Owt at the Gaslamp then! Combine that with excellent music, drinks and a good ambiance and you've got one hell of a night... if I don't say so myself!!! More of the same on the 6th of October and then every first Thursday of the month.

The Gaslamp

Kraut und Owt is at the Gaslamp this Sunday (28.08.11) for the very first time. The Gaslamp is a fairly new bar so for those who don't know where it is here is a map!

Kraut und Owt #1

It's nearly time for the first Kraut und Owt at the Gaslamp!!! Of course as it's the very first night we have no pictures yet but we can supply you with a mock up of how it's probably going to look (see image below).
The only thing missing from this picture is the KuO lightbox and the KuO slide projector... forget data projectors and lasers this is all about mid 20th century technology! As the Gaslamp has beautiful white tiled walls we are going to project directly on to them. The slides are going to be vintage European slides that will compliment the surroundings. Here's an example of one of our vintage slides:

Just in case you are worried that the night is going to be people watching someone's lost holiday snaps fret not as we will be playing music too. Krautrock, electronic music, minimal wave and oddities... what more could you want? Maybe a youtube clip of an early 80's synth band?

Kraut und Scooter!

Kraut und Owt is coming soon!!!

I've been out voted so they'll be no Scooter at Kraut und Owt! Apparently Scooter isn't Krautrock or even owt! Never mind we'll just have to play Can, Neu, Kraftwerk and owt (pretty much anything that we like that isn't Krautrock) instead.

And for those Scooter fans out there, who might be a little disappointed, here's a video just for you featuring some of the best lyrics ever - "It's not a bird, it's not a plane, it must be dave who's on the train". Yep they are that good!! Also they stated in another song that "Siberia is the place to be!" Really?! Didn't know that but if Scooter say so then it surely must be!

I don't know what it is but the MC guy from Scooter reminds me of an older version of Matt Donovan who I went to school with! Only relevant to those of you who know what Matt Donovan looks like!!!

Kraut und Owt - Coming Soon!

Today it's 17 degrees and raining in Manchester which is really depressing... but not to worry as the Broken Biscuit Club crew is in Croatia! We're doing projections at the Electric Elephant festival and have nothing to do apart from sizzling in the 38 degree heat!!! As it's the hottest part of the day we've decamped to a local cafe to sip on a cold drink and post a few videos related to our new project - Kraut und Owt. It's going to be a night featuring the best in Kraut, electronic, minimal wave and cosmic sounds from Europe and beyond! Here's a few videos to illustrate what we'll be playing.

Electric Elephant 2011

We're back doing our thing in Croatia again this year but this time in July rather than August. If you haven't been to Electric Elephant you are definitely missing out as it's one of the best festivals around. The music is good, the atmosphere is great and the surroundings are spot on. In the evenings we'll be hard at work but during the day you'll find us swimming, relaxing in a cafe or, if you're Spencer, downloading an episode of Mad Men while eating a chocolate croissant. If that's not all the hotel next to the festival site is awash with Russian Mafia wives and misstresses!
