Kraut und Owt Part 13 @ the Soup Kitchen, Thursday 15th November, 9PM - Late FREE!!!
After a year at The Gaslamp Kraut und Owt has decided to move to equally fine surroundings of The Soup Kitchen in the Northern Quarter of Manchester. DJs will continue to play Krautrock, Electronic Music, Minimal Wave, Library Soundtracks, Oddities and Owt just they might be consuming a bowl of soup at the same time now!

Another couple of dates for the diary:

(1) Friday 2nd November:
- Kraut und Owt DJs supporting a Now Wave event with Kult Country & Peace Signs at Islington Mill

(2) Friday the 26th of October:
- Broken Biscuit Club/Kraut und Owt will be on the Radio... All FM to be precise! 11PM - 1AM 

Kraut und Owt Part 12

Manchester once again is getting a battering from the wind and the rain... no need to worry as there's plenty of warm basement bars to protect you from the elements. There's only one though that you can hear the sounds from the Kraut und Owt sound system and that's the rather splendid Gaslamp on Bridge Street. We're back again at our home from home sipping their fine brews and playing exotic sounds from our record collections and digital libraries. Audio supplied by the always reliable St. Neon, Bethan K and Andy Memery... if you're really lucky you might even get to see some super8 projections! As always it's free and takes place on Thursday 4th October 2012.

Kraut und Owt Part 11

Kraut und Owt Part 11 is on the 6th of September 2012 at The Gaslamp however two thirds of KuO will be in Paris staring at the Mona Lisa, eating baguettes and getting abuse off Parisians.* Therefore Saint Neon AKA Spencer will be joined by a special mystery guest... it's still a mystery to us but it will either be a librarian, a shop-keeper or a candle stick maker! 

Before all that Broken Biscuit Club will be in Cumbria for Solfest 2012 (24th - 26th of August) - DJing and VJing very early on Saturday morning. The odd Kraut und Owt track might get a look in but we'll be playing across the board - anything we like really... should be a good one!

Less than one week until Kraut und Owt Part 10 at the Gaslamp (05/07/12) - expect off-kilter sounds from here, there and everywhere! There will be no Kraut und Owt in August though as we're having a summer holiday but we'll be back at the Gaslamp on the first Thursday of September.

One member of team KuO couldn't wait until after July and is already sunning himself in Crete however that hasn't stopped him from taking pretty much all his electronic equipment... so he can tweet to his hearts content! Aside from the tweeting though he's put together a little mix whilst swinging from side to side in his hammock - which you can listen to below:

Kraut und Owt Bank Holiday Special

At the end of the week (Sunday the 3rd of June) it's another Kraut und Owt at The Gaslamp but this time it's a bank holiday special! Thankfully there will be no Union Jack bunting, Diamond Jubilee cupcakes or any mention of the Queen... however there is an outside chance that Prince Charles will pop in for a special Krautrock and Musique Concrète set (see video)! No our bank holiday will be all about Krautrock, Electronic Music, Minimal Wave and Oddities supplied by St. Neon, Bethan K & Andy Memery (the K&O dream team).

One Deck at electrik & Kraut und Owt Part 8 at The Gaslamp

Kraut und Owt part 8 is coming soon, the 3rd of May to be precise, but that's not all we'll be doing over the next week. A bit closer to home we'll be playing records down at electrik in Chorlton on the 29th of April as part of the One Deck Sunday Sessions. As ever we can play whatever we like... as long as it's on vinyl. Expect music from the past to the present covering pretty much all of the music spectrum. 

If you can't make this Sunday then come on down to the the Gaslamp for Kraut und Owt Part 8 where we'll be playing Krautrock, Minimal Wave, Electronic Music, Library Soundtracks, Oddities and Owt. Plus, if we remember all the projector parts this time, we'll be projecting super8 on the white tiled walls. Kraut und Owt Part 7 is this coming Thursday and should be a good one as it's a bank holiday the day after... no excuses for not coming down then! As always get on down to The Gaslamp between 9pm - 1am for your monthly fix of Krautrock, library soundtracks, minimal wave, outsider pop, electronic music and oddities. Plus this month, for one month only, we're giving away an amazing prize to one lucky person - a £5 off voucher for a Betamax video player at Rumbelows superstores. Future Retro

Where did this come from? King Britt reinvents himself as some kind of retro futurist producing a great EP for hyperdub that fuses John Carpenter, the odder Shuggie Otis tracks and early Autechre. Space Dimension Controller, Symmetry and now King Britt... is everyone making soundtracks for imaginary films? If Ridley Scott does do Blade Runner II then he's got a wealth of artists to choose from to do the score!

Thankfully King Britt et al have kept me occupied whilst Anti-Christ has been on TV... without this retro futurism I could not have made it to the end of the film! Apparently surfing the net is the modern equivalent of putting your hands over your eyes when it gets scary. Every time it looked like there was going to be some disturbing scenes I quickly grabbed the laptop! Lars von Trier's films are getting weirder and weirder (if that were possible!) soon he'll be making films as disturbing as the one below:

Super8 footage - Electric Elephant Croatia 2011

Electric Elephant 2011 seems like such a long time ago now... well I suppose it was as it was about 8 months ago! We made a couple of promo videos for Electric Elephant 2012, one of which has been used, but here's the other one that hasn't been released to the wider world as of yet. This one was shot exclusively on Super8 and in the intensive heat of Croatia...it was so hot last summer that one local welcomed us to Hell when we arrived! In fact we might holiday in Hell this year as I'm sure it'll be a little bit cooler... we'll have to see if they want any visuals!

Kraut und Owt Part 6 - 1st March 2012!

A week to go till Kraut und Owt Part 6. As always get on down to The Gaslamp between 9pm - 1am for your monthly fix of Krautrock, library soundtracks, minimal wave, outsider pop, electronic music and oddities. To accompany the music we'll be projecting vintage super8 footage to keep your eyes occupied... or you could just look at your drinking companions! Electric Elephant 2012

Here's the promo we made for Electric Elephant 2012 (this year held at The Garden Tisno, Croatia). The promo consists of super8 and digital footage shot around the festival, the boat party and Nin. The song featured in the promo is Elektrons "Sunshine Love" (Broken Biscuit Club edit).

As you may have guessed from the title the next Kraut und Owt is Thursday the 2nd of February... only 3 weeks to go! Audio and visual treats are again supplied by the Broken Biscuit Club and Bethan Kryzkowski. Not to be missed!

Nothing to do with KuO part 5 but good nevertheless - a short video about the designer Dieter Rams who not only made many elegant pieces for Braun in the 1950's and 60's but also inspired Apple's Jonny Ive.
