Owt... DJ's Playing Owt They Like All Night.

From the ashes of Kraut und Owt comes our new night called Owt. We will still be playing left-field music but Krautrock won't be the focus... less Kraut more Owt if you like. We will simply be playing tracks we like from across the musical spectrum. I'm sure some of the old Kraut und Owt favourites will crop up from time to time but we will have a much more open music policy. As ever Andy Memery and Saint Neon will be providing the audio and visual delights.

Flash Back Friday - Electric Elephant

As the nights are drawing in we have become nostalgic for those heady summer nights. In the not so distant past we spent a few summers in Croatia, swimming in the Adriatic by day and donning our creative caps in the evenings, at the Electric Elephant festival. The Electric Chair boys swapped the basement for the sunshine and nobody was complaining. We even got involved with the promotional side of things too by creating viral videos as seen above. Curating the festival cinema was a highlight especially when there was a big cheer at the end of Jaws when the shark got his comeuppance. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not but there were definitely less swimmer in the sea the following day! Special mention should go out to Andrew Weatherall who is a true gent and of course the Electriks team. 

We collected loads of super 8 and digital footage that never saw the light of day... until now. Here's some behind the scenes footage that didn't make the final cut and some super 8:

This Love Has No Boundaries - Coming Soon

We have joined forces with DJ Wondergupta to start a night called 'This Love Has No Boundaries'. We will be mining our collective record collections to bring you some global beats from the outer limits. Expect to hear everything from Ethiopian jazz to Turkish psychedelia and everything in between.

The times they are a changin'

It has been a while but the broken biscuit club blog is coming out of retirement. Our focus shifted towards Facebook, and other social media sites, and we neglected good old blogger. Some folk have turned to dusty vinyl, reached down the back of old sofas for forgotten tapes or pulled fax machines out of skips to get their retro fix. Whereas we have just clicked on a webpage we haven't been on in a while. 

We have a number of musical and visual adventures set to start in the coming weeks and months covering a whole heap of genres and styles. We've always been an eclectic bunch and these nights will illustrate that. Each night will have its own theme and tone but will still follow our ethos - audio & visual delights to enrich the soul.

Look out for the following nights:
Owt - good quality underground music regardless of genre from the past to the present
This Love Has No Boundaries - beats from around the globe
Dancing In Outer Space - dance music from the left of centre.

New Home for Kraut und Owt

Kraut und Owt Part 13 @ the Soup Kitchen, Thursday 15th November, 9PM - Late FREE!!!
After a year at The Gaslamp Kraut und Owt has decided to move to equally fine surroundings of The Soup Kitchen in the Northern Quarter of Manchester. DJs will continue to play Krautrock, Electronic Music, Minimal Wave, Library Soundtracks, Oddities and Owt just they might be consuming a bowl of soup at the same time now!

Another couple of dates for the diary:

(1) Friday 2nd November:
- Kraut und Owt DJs supporting a Now Wave event with Kult Country & Peace Signs at Islington Mill

(2) Friday the 26th of October:
- Broken Biscuit Club/Kraut und Owt will be on the Radio... All FM to be precise! 11PM - 1AM 

Kraut und Owt Part 10

Less than one week until Kraut und Owt Part 10 at the Gaslamp (05/07/12) - expect off-kilter sounds from here, there and everywhere! There will be no Kraut und Owt in August though as we're having a summer holiday but we'll be back at the Gaslamp on the first Thursday of September.

One member of team KuO couldn't wait until after July and is already sunning himself in Crete however that hasn't stopped him from taking pretty much all his electronic equipment... so he can tweet to his hearts content! Aside from the tweeting though he's put together a little mix whilst swinging from side to side in his hammock - which you can listen to below:

Part Ten

One Deck at electrik & Kraut und Owt Part 8 at The Gaslamp

Kraut und Owt part 8 is coming soon, the 3rd of May to be precise, but that's not all we'll be doing over the next week. A bit closer to home we'll be playing records down at electrik in Chorlton on the 29th of April as part of the One Deck Sunday Sessions. As ever we can play whatever we like... as long as it's on vinyl. Expect music from the past to the present covering pretty much all of the music spectrum. 

If you can't make this Sunday then come on down to the the Gaslamp for Kraut und Owt Part 8 where we'll be playing Krautrock, Minimal Wave, Electronic Music, Library Soundtracks, Oddities and Owt. Plus, if we remember all the projector parts this time, we'll be projecting super8 on the white tiled walls. Vintage B-Movie films projected on walls, fine music and a bar full of assorted drinks to wet the whistle... what more could you ask for?! Maybe a link to some of our mixes:
